How The Idea Of Snorting Creatine Began / Why It Is Absurd
Personally, I do not know when the idea of snorting creatine began. However, I have seen popular fitness YouTubers engaging in this practice. Therefore, perhaps one can speculate that the whole idea of creatine snorting came from a few well known people engaging in the practice.
If you are sitting right there now though wondering if snorting creatine will help you, the answer is a resounding NO! Not only is snorting creatine not going to help you, but it will be bad for your health. Let me explain below why the whole notion of snorting creatine is absurd.
Creatine Snorting Does Not Have Instantaneous Effects On The Body
Creatine takes time to have effects on the body. Many people when they take creatine go through a loading phase. During a loading phase, one can take 20 grams or so a day of creatine. Taking all this creatine will help to saturate one’s skeletal muscles and aid them in various ways. This can include a boost in building lean muscle mass and them displaying greater strength and muscular endurance. Completing this loading phase can take a week or two, however. It is definitely not an instantaneous thing! Any immediate effects one may be feeling are nothing more than a placebo effect that exists in their mind.

Because creatine has no instantaneous effects on one’s body, snorting it will be completely futile. Sure, it might reach your bloodstream faster if you snort it through your nose. But, this is pointless because creatine takes time to work before you notice gains in thing such as muscle endurance and lean muscle mass.
One Who Does Snort Creatine Can Adversely Impact Their Health
Creatine certainly isn’t cocaine, so snorting it up your nose is not going to be nearly as damaging. However, that certainly does not mean you should go about doing it.
For one, snorting creatine up your nose can disrupt the mucous membrane within your nose. If this membrane gets disrupted, you will not be able to trap airborne irritants within your nose as well. When this happens, you have a greater chance of getting sick. Mucous also helps to warm up the air you breathe. This allows your body to more easily breathe in air, as colder air restricts the airways more.
Snorting creatine up the nose can also lead to lung damage and lung infections. This should be common sense to people, as creatine is not meant to be in contact with the lungs. If you snort creatine up your nose, you are going to irritate your lungs, which is asking for trouble.
Research Shows That Taking Creatine Through The Mouth Is Effective
Because taking creatine through the mouth works, why bother doing it through the nose? Personally, it makes absolutely no sense to me! It has already been shown that creatine displays high bioavailability when taken orally. Bioavailability basically means the amount of the drug or supplement that gets absorbed into your body. Although snorting creatine just may make it slightly more bioavailable to your body, it is not worth doing it. Creatine taken orally already shows high bioavailability and it is far more natural and safe to take it this way.
A Summary Of Why Snorting Creatine Is Dumb
By now, it should be obvious why snorting creatine is a bad idea. It can damage your nose. It can damage your lungs. It has already been shown that taking creatine through the mouth is effective. It also takes time for creatine to work. Because of these facts, any idea you may have of inhaling creatine through your nose should be dismissed immediately!
